The wealthy Nikla hires the reckless delinquent Davy as his donor.
As he and Pinoko are traveling by train, Black Jack receives an urgent message from his former mentor who is in Africa. Despite the warnings of others, Black Jack ignores them and travels to Africa. Upon arrival, he finds the man in a mysterious state. The plague had affected his mental capacity, but Black Jack successfully creates a cure.
A young woman named Sono has a weak heart and is sensitive to light. Her family’s main focus is ikebana so she is pushed to the brink of death to become better. When she almost dies while trying to see wildflowers, Black Jack tells her that flowers and humans are both beautiful because they live.
When a police officer has his statue vandalised by thugs with a vendetta against him, he stays hidden in the night to capture them red handed. Black Jack, who has a past history with the officers, volunteers to help. The officer is grateful but also wants Black Jack to repair his reputation in the process. The two become friends and eventually fall in love. Despite their differences, they are able to overcome the obstacles and become a couple.
